UCRC was created for the planning, replanning, development and redevelopment of areas that will benefit the public health, safety, and welfare, increase the economic well-being of the County and State, and to the extent possible afford maximum opportunity for rehabilitation or redevelopment of areas by private enterprise.

The Union County Board of Commissioners resolved to adopt and establish the Union County Redevelopment Commission on March 5, 2007.
